PARC Minutes

 

September 12, 2017.

 

Dave, VE3SD called the meeting to orderat 7:30.  Devon, VE3DEV read June's
minuteswhich were moved as approved by Jerry, VE3JLW, and the motion was
seconded by Barry, VE3BLM.  Carried.

 

Barry, BLM presented the treasurer's report.  Petty cash: $167.28.  GIC:
$844.25.  PARC: $3,388.72.

 

Activities.  Dave, SD said that if people plan to attend the corn roast on
Saturday at the QTH of Paul, VE3AXT and his wife Sandy, and they want
hamburgers, hotdogs, and anything stronger than water or pop, they should
bring them.John, NW announced that the club is buying 300 feet of wire which
will be used to make 40-metre antennas.  An antenna building workshop will
be held in the near future at the pavilion at Nicoll's Oval, but the date
hasn't yet been chosen.  Each antenna will work out to about $80.

 

ARES.  Mark, LJQ said that he and Devon, DEV have been in touch with the
Section Emergency Co-ordinator, Mike Hickey, VE3IPC.  He listed a number of
changes that might be upcoming, but Dave, SD reminded him that ARES matters
should be discussed with the ARES group rather than at club meetings.

 

Technical.  Rick, IQZ reported that the cable from Cogeco has now been
buried, and isn't likely to be damaged again.He also announced that we now
have Echolink.  VE3PBO-r is our repeater.  Our Echolink number is 891471.
The Allstar number is 28703.  He also said that the modem is now
battery-powered.

 

New Business.  Bob, VE3IEL made volunteer registration forms available for
anyone wanting to assist with Night Steps, a fundraiser for CNIB which is
scheduled for Friday, September 15.

 

Dave, SD asked if people are receiving E-mails from the PARC
reflector.Several said that they never get anything.  Dave said we would
have to look into that.
