Its time for a reminder again on repeater use and etiquette.
Please download and review this document regarding the use of our
repeaters and any other repeaters.

Here are some key points based on some recent feedback
WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE Recently there have been a few slips of bad
language on the repeater. If there are complaints to Industry Canada
they can shut us down and none of us want that. but more important
many of us don't want to hear bad language on the repeater ever.
Keep it short. Transmissions should be short. make your comment or
point, but don't ramble on or repeat the same thing over or worse tie
up the repeater while you stammer to remember what you where going to
say or to think of what else to say. drop it and make that comment on
the next go around. If you find the alligator (repeater time out) is
getting you from time to time, you are talking way to long.
Last the kerchunk. there are many repeaters linked there are two
reasons for a kerchunk first it may be just noise or system activity
causing the repeaters to kerchunk and not a real person. this happens
often at the end of a real persons transmission. just ignore it.
Also If you need to test your radio before a net or at any time say
your call and say testing. don't just kerchunk. and if you hear
someone ID and say testing, its not necessary to respond unless they
ask for a report. I think often people just kerchunk rather properly
ID because they are afraid they will end up in a conversation that
they where not really looking for.
Cheers everyone and happy hamming on the repeaters.
