Dear Friends,
Thank you for the opportunity and privilege to serve you as the President
of the Village Seven Amateur Radio Club for the past two years.
(And thank you, Heather KEØJOU for making the Certificate of Appreciation
and thank you to Doug ADØTP and all who signed it!)
What a strange two years, eh? [ Nothing quite like this since World War I ]
Those months of eating breakfast in the parking lot of IHOP and
holding our "meetings" on the 146.850 repeater - Thanks, Dave KØIRP!
Field Day with a Guest Log for contact tracing - Thanks, Jim R. AB5SI!
And the planning and leading of Field Day - Thanks, Doug D. ADØTP!
...all dependent on Dave KCØHPT collaborating (Thanks!) with the
Village Seven HomeOwners' Association for the use of Natural Park...
Guest Logs, email lists and net announcements - Thanks, Art KEØCQF!
Collection and management of the Club's money - Thanks, Gerry KDØVNQ!
All the latest news and events - Thanks, Rick KEØGB and Gary KB5AEB!
And the one-person nominating committee of 2020 - Thanks, David KBØKQI!
To all the people who have checked into our nets,
everybody who has bought breakfast and tipped our servers,
those who have sought us out and bought a Club badge - THANKS!
To our founder (via the Geritol Net and so on) and the early officers -
THANKS, Jim R. AB5SI, Ray KGØSS, Dave ("Ozzie") KCØHPT!
To all of the military veterans in our club, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
(I have a list from last year, which will warrant updating by October 2022.)
Beginning on Saturday 2/26/2022, your new officers are:
President: David Jarmuth KBØKQI (for two years)
Vice President: Doug Ducote ADØTP (for one year)
Secretary: Art Hollingsworth KEØCQF (for two years)
Treasurer: Ernie Spillane AF1RM (for one year)
Activities Coordinator: Steve McKee N6SJM (until he gets plum' wore' out, I
reckon)
(Hey! N6SJM has OFFERED TO HOLD A PICNIC at his place out east in August or
so!)
PLEASE SUGGEST A DATE OR TWO TO HIM so that he/we might plan...
[ Elected positions are each for a two-year term moving forward,
staggered for the sake of continuity - oops, I goofed that in the
COVID'ed 2021. ]
Hear you all on the radio:
146.460 MHz simplex FM - retirees who get up earlier than working people do
(!)
447.775 MHz output of ADØTP repeater (-5 MHz transmit offset) CTCSS 156.7
Hz analog FM
*or* C4FM DG-ID ØØ - - I gotta try that digital thing - - LET'S
USE DOUG's MACHINE!
144.200 MHz Upper SideBand "V7ARC rag-chew net" 8:00 PM local time Saturdays
And see you for the next breakfast at IHOP #1820,
9:00 AM local time (maybe earlier to order food), 8065 North Academy Blvd.
at Voyager Parkway
the FOURTH SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH except June (which is Field Day weekend).
[ The best thing is that people are TALKING to each other and the president
has to interrupt! ]
Being in this club makes me happy.
Thank you all for being yourselves and for being here.
73 (i.e., "Best Regards"),
= Steve Schaarschmidt KØCI
past president of V7ARC
P.S., I expect to have a calendar conflict for the next year or so...
My family and I joined a support group for caregivers of DEMENTIA patients,
mid-2020.
Though my dad (Don, WØOTZ) passed away a month ago, I want to continue
attending this group at 10:00 AM the fourth Saturday of each month
(Wouldn't ya know it?!) for awhile yet.
I can call into these Zoom meetings on my cell phone from my car in the
IHOP parking lot.
IF THIS IS APPLICABLE TO YOU, I would be happy to introduce you to this
community.
