Dear Village Seven,

As I mentioned on the Saturday-night 2-meter SSB net, I've been listening
to 40- and 20-meter SSB on a Heathkit SB-300 in the living room for a few
days now...

Here's a bit of news that I heard just by browsing the 'fone bands today:

The Voice of America shortwave broadcasting service is 80 years old as of
this month.
Three special-event amateur stations - W3V, W8O and W4A - are operating
this weekend (Feb 19-20, 2022) in celebration of this anniversary.
