From gzook at yahoo.com Fri Aug 17 11:27:22 2012 From: gzook at yahoo.com (Glen Zook) Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2012 08:27:22 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Uniden] AMX-500 Message-ID: <1345217242.53613.YahooMailNeo@web121706.mail.ne1.yahoo.com> I have 2-each Uniden AMX-500C programmers that have developed similar problems. ?The first unit was originally an AMX-500B but was upgraded to 500C with the PROM change and the other has always been a 500C. The older unit, when the "erase check" is accessed shows an "error" no matter what type EPROM is being read even though the EPROM has definitely been erased. ?The newer unit reads "good" when the "erase check" is run. Both units "take" the programming information fine. However, neither unit will actually write to the EPROM. ?That is, "error" appears after the "write" button is pushed and the AMX-500C goes through what appears to be the writing sequence. ?On the unit which the "good" appears on "erase check", the EPROM still reads "good" when the "erase check" is run. Neither unit will "copy" an existing EPROM. The problems also exist when the adapter cord is used with the EEPROM "small" mobile units which can be programmed through the microphone jack. I had not used either programmer for a couple of years and both units exhibited the same problem when I tried to program mobiles through the microphone jack. ?Then, I tried programming the removable EPROMs and had the same problems. Anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions. ? Glen, K9STH Website: http://k9sth.com
