[Uniden] Activity

      Uniden has released a brochure with regards to their proposed
production of a digital " capable " scanner, needing an additional add-on
card or circuit board which I believe will cost about the same price as the
scanner itself...somewhere in the $350 US range...
       It's been my experience to wait for one to two years after the hoopla
starts before there is a mad rush for the first few newer products which
finally become available. I always wait for them to work the bugs out of the
new product first, unless laws are about to be passed that would eventually
ban the product or restrict it's frequency ranges. Then I start making
calls, search the web, and go to the hamfests. I prefer the " Export  ", or
Canadian models, which traditionally covered more frequency ranges than
those available in the USA...It's OK...I live in Canada.
