HamElmer is an entire website dedicated to helping you get your license.
Practice exams are available online at CF or  AA9PW or QRZ or eHam.
Do I have to WAIT for the Class?  No.  Self study is a common method for obtaining a ham radio license.  Some people learn better from a class, others from a book, and so on.  Do what works for you.
Homework:  Take at least two, hopefully 4 practice exams daily or more until mastery.
