Subject: [tcarc-ntx] Texas VHF-FM Society - Proposed Two Meter Band Plan
Greetings!
As you may or may not already know, for the past several years there
has been a proposal before the state's frequency coordinating agency,
the Texas VHF-FM Society, which involves reallocating some 2 meter
Simplex frequencies for use by D-Star repeaters.
Here is a link to a FAQ regarding this matter on the Texas VHF-FM
Society's official website:
http://www.txvhffm.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=140&Itemid=38
An informal discussion and unofficial poll on the matter is being
conducted
in a QRZ forum:
http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?306140-Talk-of-new-Texas-VHF-FM-Society-poll-on-proposed-band-plan.
Please consider taking the time to read the material by following the
links listed above.
The "vested members" of the Society (aka "repeater owners") are polled
by the Society on such matters so the officers know what they want
done regarding a particular issue. Those polls have no binding effect,
but it's the mechanism by which they can make their voices heard.
Participating in the QRZ discussion and voting in the QRZ poll would
be one method by which a ham who does not own a repeater could
make his/her voice heard.
Even better, become a member of the TVHFFMS so that you'll actually
have a vote on issues before the Society. That would ensure that you
at least get heard on issues affecting hams who own/operate repeaters,
as well as other VHF-UHF users across our state.
The next meeting of the Society is at Summerfest in Austin.
Online voting is going on now until the end of this week.
73,
Pat ND5C
