The State of Texas has begun preparation for Hurricane Gustav and the 120 hour countdown will begin Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 1:00 AM.

 

 

I am asking all Area Directors and State Specialty Coordinators to prepare for a major response in connection with this event. Please assure all Disaster Relief Equipment is in working condition and teams are in readiness to activate as needed. Tropical Force winds are expected on shore at 1:00 PM Sunday August 31st, with landfall somewhere along the Gulf Coast Tuesday, September 2nd at 1:00 AM. We expect to be involved, in Texas ,  or in neighboring states.
 
Please advise of any conditions that would prevent any unit from a "GO" status. Strike Teams should be formed and replacement Teams identified. Please inform all Yellow Caps of this situation.
 
ICS teams will need to be activated in the DOC, please furnish names of those available to serve.
