In North Texas: Re-Elect Tom Blackwell, N5GAR, ARRL North Texas Section Manager

- - -

In 2005, I was elected ARRL North Texas Section Manager, representing 68 Texas
Counties. Not only did I win the election, I received more votes than anyone who
has run for this office in the previous 24 years.

I've assembled experienced, ethical people, to serve with me. And we have
delivered. I'm interested in adding others, as we proceed.

At a time when the rights of amateurs to use our licenses has been under
challenge, we delivered results.

The Texas Legislature is now beginning another Session, and these rights are now
being challenged again. There are people who want to use the State Law and the
police to impact things that Texas amateurs routinely do every day.

I have 20 years of experience testifying before the Texas Legislature, and in
getting things done there. The Legislature is now beginning another Session, and
I'm prepared to take on this task again.

In 2005, when we were faced with an unacceptable BPL bill, I organized the
testimony at hearings before the House and Senate in Austin. I got the first BPL
bill killed. I got the second BPL bill amended, with language to protect FCC
licensees from interference. I then asked for assistance of others I know in
State Government, for enforcement of the provisions that favor amateurs in the
amended bill, which was signed into Law.

This web page explains what this campaign is about, and why ARRL members mark
their ballot to re-elect Tom Blackwell, N5GAR: http://www.n5gar.info

I am also pledging to run an ethical campaign for re-election to this office.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss this further, and have published my
telephone number on the North Texas ARRL web page - and am publishing it here.
It is 214-361-5275.

The 'best leadership' is experienced leadership. It is leadership that
represents the mainstream of amateur radio, and 'gets things done.' Ballots
have been sent in the mail to ARRL members in North Texas. Please mark your
ballot to re-elect Tom Blackwell, N5GAR
