TWIAR Update for Week of May 1

Unfortunately it looks like Murphy's Law has once again struck TWIAR HQ,
as George's computer he uses to record the editions of TWIAR and
International went belly-up as he was recording the overdue editions for
this past weekend. The hard drive and the motherboard are both damaged
beyond repair.

He went out today and got a new computer (running that awful bloatware
called Vista) and is now in the process of uploading all the software
(fortunately backed up) and having to re-obtain all the audio recordings
which were lost on the original computer's hard drive which suffered
total failure.

Due to the computer issue, and George's sudden work schedule conflicts,
the possibility of getting the May 1 editions released are slim to none.
Last week's editions are not going to be done either.

We should be good for the week of May 8, given no further issues arise
(knock on wood).

Now, due to the meltdown, funding for TWIAR is needed more than ever. If
you could donate a few dollars to the cause of keeping the best amateur
news service going, please read below for how you can help.

We appreciate everyone's understanding, and we regret any inconveniences
this has caused. We might have something for International listeners
this weekend, but do plan to wait another week before it's available
just in case.

As always, if there is a change, we will work to let you know. Please
subscribe to our RSS feed, Twitter, or email list to stay informed.

Thanks and 73

THIS WEEK IN AMATEUR RADIO SUPPORT FUND LOW

Once again it looks like I need to appeal to all of our friends and
listeners to help support This Week in Amateur Radio, and This Week in
Amateur Radio International. We need financial support to help off-set
our on-going expenses in keeping our news services on the air and on the
internet. Here's what we're looking at.

Currently we have under $90 in our bank account. We have on-going
expenses which include our internet costs, and expenses related to
equipment up keep, and consumable supplies each month. I have been
paying out of pocket for over the last year. Our service has not
received any significant support over the last 360 days. Unfortunately,
this is a situation that cannot continue. All of us involved with This
Week in Amateur Radio do this as a way to give back to the amateur radio
hobby we all love, by keeping the ham radio community informed. But,
with rising expenses, I can't do it alone anymore. Most of our equipment
here is aging, and donations of audio equipment and computers are far
and few between. So if you can, if you appreciate our efforts, please
help to support This Week in Amateur Radio. As always, your donation is
tax deductible. The address for our support fund is:
