While our staff and crew at our headquarters in Albany take a well
deserved
vacation, we present the latest amateur news along with our first "Best
Of"
program.

Here is a summary of news items covered in edition # 541 of "This Week
in
Amateur Radio", North America's only satellite-delivered, on-the-air
audio
bulletin service, for the week ending August 30, 2003.

This weeks edition, filled with all the latest amateur radio news and
special
features is anchored by our technical director, George Bowen, W2XBS,
from
our headquarters studio facility in Albany, New York.

2.  A service was held in High Point, North Carolina for Roy Neal,
K6DUE, SK.
3.  The 2004 Dayton HamVention was almost a no go.
4.  A new chairman for the NCVEC has been appointed.
5.  FCC designates a hearing on a former amateurs GMRS license
application.
6.  Hams and amateur radio were the bright spot during the northeast
blackout.
7.  A-L-E makes its amateur debut during a MARS drill and exercise.
