Well, as This Week in Amateur Radio approaches the begining of its ninth
year, support for this weekly service to the amateur radio community has
reached zero.
Now, don't get me wrong, there have been a handful of great folks out there
that always seem to come to the call. You folks know who you are. And, all of
us here at This Week in Amateur Radio say thanks.
It actually costs about one hundred dollars a month to produce the service.
This goes mainly for our newsgathering expenses, and a smaller amount for
equipment maintenence to generate the program audio.
We feel This Week in Amateur Radio is a bargain and gives you "more bang for
the buck" if you will, when you compare TWIAR to other services that cost
thousands of dollars a month to keep running.
In a few weeks, we need to pay for our domain name (www.twiar.org) for
another year. As of right now, we do not have the amount needed to cover this
expense.
Since the end of February, all expenses incurred for This Week in Amateur
Radio have been coming from the generousity of our staff and crew at our
headquarters here in Albany.
Our staff is willing to support the service through the month of April.
If funding is not available beyond that date, This Week in Amateur Radio
will be going dark (as will our web site) on May 1, 2002.
We have never solicited outside funding in our nine year history. Perhaps
it is time. If you have any contacts within any major amateur radio
corporations, and you think they may be interested in helping keep This Week
in Amateur Radio going, please forward the information to us.
In the meantime, if you would like to help This Week in Amateur Radio stay
on the air, pass the hat at your next club meeting. Talk us up on the air.
Our mailing address for our support fund is
This Week in Amateur Radio
P.O. Box 30
Sand Lake, New York 12153.
This Week in Amateur Radio is produced by Community Video Associates Inc.,
a New York State, non-profit corporation.
Just a reminder, that TWIAR is produced by amateurs, for the amateur radio
community. No one associated with the service derives any income from it.
That's the story for here at TWIAR headquarters. For now, best 73 and
we'll catch you on the air.
