Here is what is happening behind the mike at This Week in Amateur Radio.

ON-AIR TALENT:

As of this writing, we have three rotating news anchors,

Steve Robertson KB3HGM in Chesapeak Bay, Maryland,
Larry Shilkoff, KJ6NV in Simi Valley, California, and
our technical director, W2XBS.

People, I could use a couple of additional news anchors, to help share
the
load, and make our on-air presence a little more diverse. If you would
like to be a news anchor for TWIAR, please drop us a e-mail with your
telephone number and we will contact you.

Please note that being an anchor is an important position within the
operating structure of the service. You must have a computer with
internet
access, sound recording software (we will provide) and a good
microphone.

If this is you. Call us!

TWIAR is also in search of segment producers. Great. What's a segment
producer? Well if you have been a long time listener to the service, you

no doubt have heard "The Ancient Amateur Archives", or "The Packet Radio

JunkBox" or "Musings" with Will Rogers, W4WLR. These are all done by
segment producers.

So, if you are knowledgeable about a particular facet of the hobby,
like,
computers in the shack, networking, Voice over IP, DX'ing, contesting,
amateur television, digital whatever, or even SWL'ing, why not share
your
enthusiasm with the TWIAR listeners.

Again, if you would like to be a segment producer with us, you can
produce
on computer audio or via cassette tape. Contact us soon!

FUNDING:

This is not a pretty picture at this point. TWIAR has been operating
without
funding from radio clubs, or repeater support groups for the past two
months.

In order for This Week in Amateur Radio to continue to provide the
amateur
radio community the best and latest news and information each week, we
run up a tab of about $25. per week in operating expenses. This
includes
internet access, long distance telephone, and other news gathering and
production expenses. That's considerably less than other amateur radio
bulletin services, but we cannot continue to operate without the support

of the amateurs we serve. You, keep us on the air! Please consider
sponsoring a week, month, or a year of North Americas premier bulletin
service. When you do, we'll give you a plug on the air!

SUNDAY NIGHT TWIAR CHATS ON E-QSO

We now hold a chat session each Sunday evening at 10pm eastern time on
E-QSO
in a room called (TWIAR). This is all server space permitting. This chat
is
for all affilliates, on-air talent, and listeners! Please join us so we
can
all get to know each another!

THE WEB SITE: (www.twiar.org)

Our web site continues to grow and expand. Greg (K4HSM our resident html
guru)
and Dale (N0WKF our web site audio file guy) continue to change and
reform
the TWIAR web site into something new. Greg recently installed some new
code and reformatted the site. Check it out. If you have any web ideas

for us, let us know!

AFFILIATES:

We were all dismayed at the loss of WA0RCR not only on our air
reporting, but
as a loss of our premier HF affiliate on 160 meters. If you would like
to
fill the void, and air TWIAR on HF for us, please contact us. As far as

we know, we do not clear on any HF band at this time.

On a brighter note we added three new VHF affiliates this past month,
they are:

WX9CMN on 442.475 serving Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
W4GBR on 147.270 serving For Payne, Alabama.
WB4BZF on 146.970 serving Clearwater and St. Petersburg, Florida.

Welcome aboard! If you are not on our affiliate listing on the web site,

please fill out the form!

Well, that's about it for now. Next month, I will update this again, and

include a listing of all the gear it takes to produce TWIAR each week!

Thanks for being there for us!

George Bowen
W2XBS
This week in Amateur Radio - Technical Director.

via
contributions from our listeners and affiliates.
