Hi Bill... you WANT the grounds to conduct RF... separate ground wires that 
is... I usually do both ends of a cable I don't want any trouble from (so 
to speak) but I would think the main thing is to block the entrance of RF * 
INTO * an INPUT; and the exit of RFI from anything that could be a source. 
For example, I had a monitor giving me problems until I beaded (actually I 
used clamp-on ferrite chokes) both ends of the monitor cable; and the 
monitor and the cpu AC lines. This was a PC XT in the days before they put 
a nice chunky bead at the output of the monitor. Worst case I ever cured 
required multiple turns on a T-200 core.
