It’s that time again. TVARC’s session of Camp Villages is scheduled for Monday, July 6, at 2 PM at Manatee Recreation Center.
For those of you who might be new to The Villages, Camp Villages is an activity organized by The Villages Recreation Department to educate and entertain youngsters who are visiting
family (read: their grandparents) in The Villages. Dozens of clubs and organizations in The Villages sponsor sessions to educate and entertain grandkids in the club’s area of interest:
like archery, amateur radio, clowns, and so on. TVARC has hosted a session every summer for a number of years. The campers listen to a scintillating presentation on radio after which
they are given radio kits to assemble. They love assembling the radios. After they get their radios built, they are offered the opportunity to send their names in Morse code.
TVARC assigns one club member to each of our 12 campers to guide them through the assembly and checkout process under the watchful eyes of their parents/grandparents.
So, this is the first notice about this year’s Camp Villages and a call for volunteers. Twelve are needed. The session lasts about 90 minutes.
Please contact me to volunteer.
