Somehow during our last meeting I missed talking about a couple of contests coming up:

This weekend is the CQWW WPX SSB contest.  It’s everyone working everyone, and starts at 8p Friday night.  The exchange is simply, 59 and a serial number, starting at 001.  This one always has lots of activity, and if you have a unique or recently licensed prefix, you may be sought after.  From the contest rules: A PREFIX is the letter/numeral combination which forms the first part of the amateur call. Examples: N8, W8, WD8, HG1, HG19, KC2, OE2, OE25, LY1000, etc.

The other contest of note is the Florida State POTA contest.  This is a four day POTA test, running each day from 8a to 8p, between Friday and Monday, April 17 -20.  POTA activity is limited to Florida parks only, and supports Activators and Hunters.  Activators give a signal report, with or without a park number (59 US-1857), and Hunters give a signal report and state.  If you’re on FT8/4, use standard signal + grid.  Work ‘em once per band per mode per park (that’s a lot of pers)!  Here are the rules:

Hope to see our TVARC Activators (KM4ZTE, N0SMX, K2DM, NN8I, and others) out there.
