What a morning! I left the hotel a little after 6AM in intermittent light rain for my 2-mile drive to the Finn Pond Wildlife Management Area. I set up in the trunk of the rental car, and everything was fine except that the ring connector on the counterpoise didn’t make connection with the base of the vertical antenna. The antenna tuned fine through the rig’s antenna tuner, but I probably lost a few dB on my signal.
So, enough whining. Here are some stats.  21 QSOs on 20M, net of two duplicates.  29 QSO’s on 40M, net of 2 duplicates.  The duplicates occurred because I was trying to move fast, so I didn’t always wait for the caller to confirm receipt of my RRR. My bad, but that’s how I made 50 contacts.
And here’s the really cool and gratifying part:  10 of my 50 Q’s were with TVARC members!  There were at least 3 additional members who didn’t make it into my log.
I would have operated longer, but I had a hard stop at 8:30. Plus it started raining again.
Oh, and the orange shirt - I was in a hunting area after all!
So, until next time,
