Hi Clubmates,
In addition to our usual TVARC DXCC (mixed and FT8), and WAS, I’m now going to be requesting your Parks On The Air (POTA) data.
Not certain how many of you are involved in this fast-growing segment of our hobby, but it seems that it’s more than I had once thought. We’ll give it a try for some period and see how many are interested, and perhaps this might encourage some of you to get involved in Hunting for POTA stations, or even Activating a park or two.
So, for now, send me the stats recorded in your “All-Time Statistics” box in the upper right-hand corner of the pota.app Profile page. Of course, you’ll need to register your callsign if you haven’t already done so. Even if you haven’t been involved in POTA before, you may find that there’s some data that has already been collected for you, since the Activators (the folks actually going to various parks and making QSOs from there) have sent in their logs, and you may be in them!
We’ll keep it simple to start – just send me your stats for # of Hunter Parks (not QSOs), and # of Activations (not Parks), and I’ll make up a slide for these. Perhaps later on we can get into Awards earned, QSOs, Parks Activated, FL parks worked, and other data that may give a better picture of your activities. Also, it should not be difficult for me to look up your current totals in the POTA app in the future, once I know that you’re a POTA participant.
But I also wish to solicit information on Parks you plan on Activating in the next few weeks. Give me planned dates, Park # and description, and any others participating in your group. Hopefully we’ll then be able to look for you during your operations.
One other thing. I know of the following stations who participated in the Florida QSO Party two weeks ago: W3US, K3WT, W2ODH, WB2ART, K6UMO, K2DM. Anyone else? And if you did participate and have not posted your scores on the reflector, please send me your QSO totals, multipliers, final score, and operation class (single/multi op, HP/LP, etc).
I’ll try and submit the slides by late Wednesday, so try and have all your data in to me by noon Wednesday.
73, Pete, K2PS
