In amateur radio, call signs are divided into call zones that typically denote geographic regions. The “D1” call zone is specific to Russia. Russian amateur radio call signs are prefixed with the letter “R,” but the “D1” prefix indicates a special call sign used within the country.
The D1 prefix is often associated with the Donetsk region. Call signs like these are allocated for specific purposes, events, or regions within a country and can sometimes indicate a temporary or special event station.
For detailed information on amateur radio call sign allocations and regions, you can refer to resources such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) or national amateur radio organizations like the Russian Amateur Radio Union (SRR).

Does anyone know where the
D1 prefix is? There are several D1
stations on FT-8 including D1GNV
and one with a 2 letter suffix.
