Rick was President of what I always call "the best TVARC board ever" back in 2012. Dave K2DWW (SK) was VP, I was Secretary, and Ralph N8RW was Treasurer. We had lengthy board meetings at Panera at Sumter Landing. We even talked a little bit about TVARC!

Rick was a kind and gentle man, dedicated to his family and the hobby.

It is with sadness that I report that Rick Silverston, WD4JJI, passed away on March 30. Rick was the President of TVARC about a dozen years ago. Shortly thereafter he joined Community Watch and became a dispatcher. In that role Rick saved my bacon. I had parked temporarily in my next door neighbor’s driveway (he was a snowbird) when his home watch person came by to check on the house. She reported the unauthorized car to Community Watch. Thankfully, Rick heard the ensuing transmission, recognized my callsign license plate, and stopped the police from being called. It’s good to have friends.
Rick was pretty busy with family and work, so we didn’t see him at many club meetings, but he always maintained his membership.
RIP Rick!
