Subject: POTA Demo - This Friday, 5/10 @ 9AM - Dade BattlefieldHello TVARCers:
Two months ago, I held a demo for any TVARC member that was interested in seeing a POTA station setup at Lake Griffin State Park. That went well except that we experienced S-9 QRN levels.
This time, it’ll be held at the Dade Battlefield in Bushnell. It’s a little further away than Lake Griffin but it’s a very picturesque and QRN-quiet location.
It’ll be this Friday, May 10th beginning at 9:00 AM (to avoid the heat). It will be another chance for those that weren’t able to attend at Lake Griffin (or anyone that wants to attend again). Be sure to bring a lawn chair.
After an overview of the station, we’ll make some QSOs using CW and phone (sorry nothing in a digital mode). The demo will take about one hour and if you plan to listen while contacts are being made, plan on another half hour or so.
Here are the coordinates of the specific location: 28.65163, - 82.12623 (North Latitude, West Longitude) which you can program into GPS. The park charges an entry fee of $3.00 per car.
It’ll be adjacent to the visitor center, where there’s a small parking lot. And you can learn about some interesting Florida history at the visitor center.
