I have had an APC UPS for about 12 years. About 6 years ago I had to replace the battery as it died under load quickly.  Just a week ago I had issues with the UPS not related with the battery so I replaced the UPS with the same basic model. It uses a Gell Cell battery.

My home alarm system uses a similar battery and I had to replace the battery after about 6 years.

Gell cell batteries have a life like anything else. I test my UPS periodically by using it to power my PC to make sure the battery is up to snuff.

It looks like you got your money’s worth out of the battery in your UPS. You can easily replace

 All,

My battery backup in my UPS must have given up the ghost. What is the normal or average life span of the battery in a UPS system?
I have had my system provided to me from when I was still working, and I took it with me from the office in South Florida to my home office here in TV in 2013, when I relocated here. I had to replace it one time in 2018. It appears I will need to replace it again.
I usually leave my computer on at all times with an exception/habit of shutting it down on Sunday nights, allowing for a cold start/boot up on Monday morning. (NOTE: When working from the SF office, that would be a Friday night shut down).
Comments?
