Clubmates,

Well, it wouldn’t be Field Day without bad weather.

Here are some updates relative to our Field Day planning.

  1. Today, K4LFK, W4GOR and I agreed that we should cancel the grilling of hot dogs and hamburgers on Saturday because the weather forecast is gloomy.

Therefore, N4FMO does not need to bring a folding table for the food, W4GOR does not need to bring his grill, K4LFK does not need to spend a lot of money on food,

and I do not need to bring a second canopy from the locker.

  1. I have changed my mind about not having a GOTA station for new and inexperienced hams to practice their HF operating skills under the guidance of an Elmer.

We WILL have a GOTA station.  Having a GOTA station is FREE from the perspective of which category TVARC will be operating in.  We will still be 3A, with our three stations

being the SSB station, the CW station and the FT8 station.  The GOTA station will sit in the main area of the trailer, so it can get a lot of visibility, and, I am hopeful, some use.

  1. Although the Emergency Services trailer is not scheduled to be delivered until later in the afternoon, I plan to drop off the antennas that I will be contributing to Field

Day earlier in the afternoon, no later than 3:00PM.  If the weather is OK at that time, those of us who are interested can set about assembling the antennas in advance of the trailer’s arrival.

That way we can save time and, perhaps, avoid some rain.

Attached is the latest list of who is bringing what to Field Day.  Please let me know if you have any changes.

Also attached is a spreadsheet that lays out the hours of Field Day in three columns, one for each station (other than the GOTA station).  Don’t bother filling in your name/callsign on the

Spreadsheet.  Rather, just email me with the time slots / stations that you would like to operate.  For now, please limit your request to only two consecutive hours on a station.  I will update

the frequently and send it back out.  This exercise is worse than herding cats, so please be understanding.  Or, better yet, just sign up for the midnight to 6AM time period.

You need not sign up for the GOTA station.  Just email me with when you would like to operate, and we will accommodate you.

Any questions for now?

George K2DM
