I’m amazed.  I’d like to come by and sit behind one of you serious contesters and see how you do it.  Is it a better radio / antenna, operating skills or both.  417 USB contacts, while I got 18.  I just don’t get it.  But I’m willing to sit behind, stay out of the way watch and learn if you’ll have me for a couple hours on a future phone contest.

Good job Pete.  You've kept me on my toes all day, and congrats on 75 SSB QSOs on 40M.  I tried to get a couple of runs going, but didn’t make a single QSO on 40 SSB.  Still looking for WY, HI, and AK.  Good luck to you tomorrow.  I’ll be giving it my best.

I’d normally be pretty happy with my score so far:

But I’ve spent the whole day (with a couple of timeouts for the thunderstorms) chasing Rusty, W3US, who ended the day with a total score of 183,582 with 937 QSOs and 126 mults <sigh>.

Not sure I can catch him tomorrow, but I’ll sure try!
