Hi Larry -
Very sorry to hear about your flagpole. As one who also has a similar antenna, a couple of quick questions: Were you flying a flag at the time and was the break in the space between the two flagpole parts? Oh, and how large was the gap between the two parts before its, as Spacex would say, rapid unscheduled disassembly.?
Thanks, and 73,
Paul, KM4PIH

John, If you remember I was the first person to build your antenna before you published. I used your exact part from Interstate Plastics. I am sure we didn't both have the same batch. Mine was a perfectly clean break.

Larry, Greg,
I have never heard of such a thing happening. I would like to see thebroken piece.
The material that I used goes underthe commercial trade name of "Delrin."It was manufactured by Interstate
Plastics and the invoice descriptionsimply says "natural acetal rod."
The article was published in theSeptember 2017 issue of QSTand I have gotten feedback fromfolks all over the country. I havenever heard of the rod breaking.
I have heard of the pole snappingABOVE the rod, but I have neverheard of a single case of the roditself, snapping.
I am thinking you folks must havegotten something else or they mighthave had a bad batch, I don't know. That is why I would like to see a
piece of what broke and a copy ofthe invoice / packing list, if you mighthappen to have kept it.
Could I get a piece from one of you?
Thanks & 73,John, NP2B

FYI:
Did not think it was possible, but I came home this evening to a flagpole laying across my driveway. Upon further examination, the acetal rod inside the first five feet of the pole had snapped right off. It must have blown pretty hard here this afternoon in St. Charles to cause that to snap! Anyway, back to builder mode again! Not particularly happy I have to repair, but that is the life of an amateur radio operator!
