John, If you remember I was the first person to build your antenna before you published. I used your exact part from Interstate Plastics. I am sure we didn't both have the same batch. Mine was a perfectly clean break.

Upon further examination, the acetal rod inside the first five feet of the pole had snapped right off. It must have blown pretty hard here this afternoon in St. Charles to cause that to snap! Anyway, back to builder mode again! Not particularly happy I have to repair, but that is the life of an amateur radio operator!
