One of my pet peeves: automatic morse code.
Perhaps I’m just an old grouch (83) but when an operator sets the computer CW speed at 45 wpm and then presses an F key he is not “sending” at 45 wpm – the computer is. Some may say I’m nitpicking but to me we ‘send’ with our fists – it’s a hands-on operation – not computer assisted ops. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking the computer assisted programs, they are great and the only way to go when contesting.
Why these ops persist in doing that during contests boggles the mind – they obviously miss out on contacts from less skilled operators. I agree with Steve, K2PS, it is simply showing off.
