My two cents worth; I use HRD (Ham Radio Deluxe). Now, with my Flex, and SmartSDR, I now ONLY use the log function from the HRD suite. I have no real need for the rest of the software.
But, that said, I give high marks for the HRD Log program. I use MySQL (MariaDB) as the database engine in lieu of the built in database, and there is a multitude of variables that allow for separating out types of QSOs for various awards, etc.

Additionally, to Pete's point, by using a SQL database engine, I created separate databases with each period representing a different log for different QTH's I lived at over the years. And that includes while being shut in during the COVID years, when with all the time on my hands, I was entering ALL my paper logs going back to my Novice days in 1969.

I used DX4WIN for about 20 years and found it did everything I wanted reliably. I switched to another program only because I started using Macs full-time. As the name implies, DX4WIN is a Windows-only application.

One suggestion – when evaluating logging software, be sure to see if it’s possible to divide up your QSOs in some way so that you could separate your Villages QSOs from all the others.  In my case, using DX4WIN, I’m able to create a “Selection,” in which I can indicate the dates from which my contacts were in The Villages.  There is also a way to assign a Group # to QSOs, and then select just those.  The chosen selections are then utilized when displaying DXCC, WAS, etc. reports.

Subject: [TVARC] Request: DX Logging Programs - Recommendations

Hello TVARCers:

I’m becoming a born-again DXer having had some success in working DX since setting up my station here in TV.  Prior to that, up North, I enjoyed the thrill of the hunt but did not seriously try to keep tabs of my countries-worked/confirmed totals.

Now that my station is set up here in TV, I want to do so but I’m not sure of what software package to use.  I am satisfied with my contesting software so my focus will be on a DX logging program that will keep tabs of not only my band-country totals but also progress toward various awards.  Ideally, the program will keep tabs of some domestic totals like WAS by band, counties worked, Triple Play award among others.

I’d appreciate it if you could tell me what program you use and whether you’d recommend it.  Any comments (positive or negative) would be appreciated.

Tnx es 73,
