I would suggest applying common white vinegar. It literally
flushes away that nasty residue. Let me know your outcome.

We have a piece of equipment that has abattery compartment made out of castaluminum. Like most devices that are notused very often, the battery was ignoredand leaked.
It is an alkyne battery. Does anyone knowof anything that dissolves or breaks downthis kind of corrosion so we can at least getthe battery out and this thing cleaned it up?
(good reason to remove batteries frominfrequently used pieces of equipmentlike antenna analyzers and such)
