Hi Phil,

Wow, sounds like there is something amiss.  I am not a 7300 expert, but with other radios in the past I have had a radio appear dead if:

  1. The wrong antenna input is selected.  For example, if the antenna is plugged into the Antenna 1 jack, but Antenna 2 has been selected on the front panel.
  2. The Squelch control is turned up all the way.
  3. The RF gain control is turned all the way down.

I would be happy to work with you on this, but I can’t do so until Friday.  Let me know if that works for you.

73,

George K2DM

Subject: [TVARC] Ready to give up

I have had my license for a few years and purchased an icom 7300.

I have tried a super antenna, an end fed wire antenna, and now a vertical buddipole antenna

I can not pick up any stations or transmissions.

I have watched hundreds of you tube videos.

I have been to classes.

I cant even pick up the 10.000.00 signal.

Maybe I goofed up the radio and it just can pick up signals.

I even reset it back to factory standards thinking I set something wrong.

Is there a way to setup the radio so that I can be sure it is working?
