The best laid plans of mice and men don’t always work out.  Before returning to Florida this Fall, I reserved some weekends for contesting to give my newly installed flagpole antenna a chance to play a bit.  But this weekend was disrupted by my 18 month old grandson’s visit.  The challenge was that the blacked out bedroom that he used for sleeping is also the room where the shack is located.  So I had to work around that to have some fun.

Note:  Before the contest, I read posts from my contest club in Minnesota about 50 MPH winds and a snowstorm swooping into Central MN causing guys to retract their towers and using caution when rotating their beams.  I kinda chuckled as I sat in my operating chair wearing shorts, flipflops and a tee shirt…poor guys up north.  I also had no worries when rotating my flagpole antenna.

Heard a number of fellow TVARC ops participating in the fray with good success.  I felt that condx were good except that 10 meters was a struggle and lacked consistency.  Looking forward to more contests in the next few years with improving solar conditions.  Also, gotta get my flagpole to load on 80 as a priority for next year (no room for another antenna on my property).
