Hello TVARCers:
This was a great contest. Got the best of two worlds. During daylight hours, I was one of the ops at K2DM’s Multi-2 contest station and got to meet a few of the TVARC contest ops. For a couple of evenings, I tried out my recently-installed flagpole antenna at my TV QTH (Village of Santo Domingo) and enjoyed working from a semi-tropical latitude (as contrasted to my ice-encrusted MN QTH of the last four decades). It was literally and figuratively a breath of fresh-air. Never thought that I’d be able to work much DX once I set up a station in TV so I was pleasantly surprised that I could enjoy being somewhat competitive on a crowded band.
Looking forward to more contests with my modest flagpole. Now if only I can figure a way to get on 80 with that flagpole…that’s an upcoming project (any suggestions welcome).
