Good afternoon...

I have another topic to share with you...sorry for the bandwidth, but it
will be on the next TVARC Reflector Post. I will ask President Walbrunn to
include this on the collection of accumulated Field Day "wisdom" included
on K4VRC.COM Hopefully, we will not need to reinvent the wheel next year.

There was a lot of heated conversation and gnashing of teeth prior to Field
Day concerning why or how to include TVARC as your club affiliation on your
personal log.

The short answer is that since you will include our club name on the log
submission screen, you do NOT need to modify the Cabrillo Log that you
have either exported from the N1MM Logging Program or WSJT-X (if you were
exclusively FT8) to include the Club Name. PERIOD!!!

Just remember that when prompted for our club name on the log submission
screen, the ARRL knows us as The Villages Amateur Radio Club. They do NOT
know from TVARC or Villages Amateur Radio Club or Villages Ham Radio Nerds
R Us. Capiche?

Take it from personal experience...screw around editing a Cabrillo log at
your extreme peril. The formatting is exquisitely picky. Editing an ADIF
file is even worse. SO DON'T!

Read ChatGPT's answer to my most excellent question:

Good question. The short answer is:

*No, your club affiliation does not need to be included in the Cabrillo
log. If you're submitting your Field Day entry through the ARRL Field Day
web app, the club name you enter on the online Summary Sheet is what ARRL
uses for Aggregate Club Scoring.*

For Field Day, the Cabrillo file serves only as a replacement for the
required dupe sheet (list of stations worked by band and mode). The
official entry consists of:

   - The online Summary Sheet (where you enter your station information,
score, bonus points, and optional club affiliation)
   - Your Cabrillo log (or dupe sheet)
   - Any bonus point documentation you're claiming.

The Field Day rules specifically state that participants may *optionally
include a single club name with their submitted results* so their score is
included in the club's aggregate total. That information comes from the
Field Day entry itself—not from the Cabrillo log.

So, if you're submitting as an individual (Class D, E, etc.):

   - ✅ Enter your club name in the ARRL Field Day web entry.
   - ✅ Upload your Cabrillo file.
   - ❌ Don't worry if the Cabrillo file doesn't contain a CLUB: header or
   club name.

If you tell me *which logging program* you used (for example, N3FJP ARRL
Field Day Contest Log, N1MM Logger+, HAMRS, etc.), I can tell you whether
it exports any optional club information and whether there's anything you
should check before uploading.

73!
ChatGPT actually said 73. How cool (or scary) is that?
