My favorite contest, and one tailored to TVARCs typically meager stations.
Pretty easy to cut a 10M dipole and throw it between a couple of bushes.
The whole antenna is about 16 feet or so. And the good part is you can work
anyone, anywhere. Choose your mode (CW/SSB, or Mixed - no FT8), exchange
59(9) <state> with US and Canada (DX will send you a serial number). Also
recently, Mexico which sends a three-character state abbreviation.
HP/LP/QRP. You also get to sleep at night when the band is closed!
Conditions look terrific! Right now the solar flux index is 183 with a
fairly low A index of 5. 10 meters will be hoppin'!
Also, don't forget to set your contest program to connect to
https://contestonlinescore.com/. This will communicate with your logging
program, and report your real-time scores. It's always fun to watch our
club members pile up their numbers. Go to that site and register, if you
have not already done so, and enter your club as The Villages Amateur Radio
Club. To set it up in N1MM+, go to Config>Configure Ports,.>Score
Reporting. Check the boxes on the left, and enter server name of
https://contestonlinescore.com/post/. During the contest you'll be able to
see everyone's scores, either by class (LP/HP, etc), or by club, and watch
them change every few minutes.
After the contest, be sure to mark your club as The Villages Amateur Radio
Club, and report your estimated scores to 3830scores.com. I'll use that to
compile them for the club and report during our next meeting.
73, and GL
