Severe storms can disrupt normal means of communications that we rely on
every day. If you are unable to get a message through to your friends and
family because of a loss of cell service, landline and internet, you can
contact Sumter County ARES and we will get your message to the recipient
through the National Traffic System (NTS) or the Digital Traffic Net
(DTN). You can reach your local ARES team by radio on the following
repeaters in Sumter County:
- K4HOG repeater on frequency 147.030 MHz (Standard + Offset), PL TX
Tone 123.0, RX Tone 123.0 Hz
- KX4LEO repeater on frequency 147.360 MHz (Standard + Offset), PL TX
Tone 97.4, RX Tone 97.4 Hz
You should also inform your family and friends who live away that they can
get a message to you as well by contacting an amateur radio operator in
their community. The operator should send the message to Sumter County
ARES by any of the following means. ARES will do its best to deliver the
message to you.
- Sumter County ARES, KS4SCA, on the North Florida Phone Net on
frequency 3.950 MHz (LSB) at 7:30 PM ET, or on the aforementioned VHF
repeaters.
- WinLink: KS4SCA
- Email: mail.sumterares at gmail.com
- Phone: (352) 444-2216, Opt.3
