Hello all,
I have heard several new hams expressing interest in CW. Many do not currently have HF stations. I want to make you aware of a resource that is available to anyone with a computer and Internet access. This resource is WebSDR http://www.websdr.org
During the solar minimum of a few years ago this resource was used by many HF net control stations to help with poor propagation. It can also be used to listen to virtually any HF band and mode anywhere in the world. For CW practice you can either listen to the W1AW code practice transmission which occur 5 times a day, 5 days a week or you can listen to cw on the air. You will hear slow speed cw starting about 50 khz above the low end of each band - for example 14.050 mhz.
You can also use this resource to test your antennas, propagation and even to adjust your SSB audio and compression settings. And you can record and save your signal for comparison later. I used it to adjust my SSB audio equalizer settings and to listen for chirp on my old boat anchor transmitters.
