The QCWA (Quarter Century Wireless Association) is an organization of Amateur Radio operators who have held their licenses for over 25 years. For more information about the QCWA, visit www.qcwa.org.
The huge news referenced above is that Hal Lloyd, W4OE, is stepping down as President of our local QCWA chapter. Hal has served essentially forever, either as President or Secretary/Treasurer. The monthly breakfast meeting that he hosts at Perkins has been a must attend for many. Now Hal has decided to step down as President. Happily, he isn’t going anywhere, so we will continue to enjoy his wit and his knowledge, and he will continue to emcee the Friday morning QCWA net - the most prestigious of all nets.
Not to worry, however, our QCWA chapter will not be leaderless. Tim Leonard, AA6DQ, was elected unanimously as the chapter’s new president today.
In further news, Ken Kaplan, WB2ART, was elected Treasurer of the chapter. Bob Averitt, WA3EWK, had been serving as Secretary/Treasurer, and he is now able to focus on Secretary.
Phew!
