Hi Members of TVARC’s MailList (especially those interested in the “13 Colonies” Special Event),
On July 6, 2023 @ 23:28 UTC), I achieved a “clean sweep plus 3” in the 15th annual “13 Colonies” Special Event. Hopefully, other club members, who participated in this event, enjoyed it as much as I did. This year’s (2023) event ended at midnight on Saturday morning (July 8, 2023 at 00:00 EDT/04:00 UTC).
I garnered that clean sweep by successfully contacting ALL thirteen (13) of the original colonies’ stations (call signs K2A through K2M), which were located in each of the States representing the original British colonies. Plus, I successfully contacted ALL three (3) of this year’s “bonus” stations (GB13COL, TM13COL, & WM3PEN). These bonus stations respectfully represented our Revolutionary War’s adversary (King George in Great Britain), our ally (France’s monetary & military aid, like Lafayette), and the important gatherings that occurred in Philadelphia.
During my quest toward that sweep, Maryland (K2F) was the hardest of the 13 colonies stations to get; while the French one (TM13COL) was the most difficult of the bonus stations to reach. My quest spanned from July 4th at 17:27 UTC (when I got my first contact) through July 6th at 23:28 UTC (when I got my last one). However, I only worked a few hours total during this time frame as my participation was off and on.
The following tables show some interesting breakdowns of my QSOs from this year’s event.

The "13 Colonies" special event is a fun-filled way to celebrate our country's Independence using your amateur radio skills and equipment. So, I encourage those who haven't tried it to join in next year's fun and celebrate the July 4th Holiday on-the-air. For more information, see the 13 Colonies' special event's home page (http://www.13colonies.us <http://www.13colonies.us/> ).
73 & Happy belated 247th Birthday to the USA!
Tony
