Yes, exactly right. Hadn’t thought about running FT8 at TVARC activities, but good idea. There are DXpeditions too, which don’t have Internet connections, and so not surprising their clocks can be off. So, someone remember for the next Rodeo/Square event, to install TimeFudge!

Pete,
A thought just occurred to me about the TimeFudge program.
When we use a laptop at field day for the ft8 station, or for that matter any events like Radio Rodeo or Radio on the Square, we usually do not have internet and the computer clock is no doubt off from accuracy. After seeing the bulk of decoded stations, we can then use TimeFudge to sync with everyone else.
Oh, and thanks for the NAQP RTTY Q.

For those of you using FT8, you may have noticed that sometimes you’re trying to work a station whose time offsets (DT) are much more than the typical 0.1 or 0.2.
Well, I had that situation in trying to work 3B7M, whose offset was 1.2. So I dug into possible solutions and came up with a little program by W9MDB called TimeFudge.
Look up W9MDB on QRZ.com and somewhere down his detailed page you’ll find the link to TimeFudge where you can download the latest. I would suggest not going to other download links you may come across.
Windows may give you a caution against the download, but you can override by asking for “More info,” I think it said. Then you can “Run Anyway.”
A little window will pop up that allows you to specify exactly what offset to your system clock you want. Just click on the Fudge button, and it will immediately change the DT you view in the WSJT program.
Good luck all!

Don’t forget to change it back after you’ve worked the guy!
