I wasn't sure how much time I wanted to spend on this one, but conditions
turned out to be pretty good. And 10 meters was wide open too, so it kept
my interest. But things didn't start out so well - just before the contest
I decided I needed to straighten out one of the legs to my 40m inverted vee
which seemed to be caught up in a pretty dense Sylvester palm. So I got out
the ladder and started trimming and uh oh! Yeah, I cut the wire too! Not
happy. But I got it fixed and managed to get everything back up and running
OK in time.

40 was hopping Friday night, but had little success using the 40m antenna on
80. But after a few hours of sleep, woke up to catch an early 20m opening
to Europe at around 5a. Switched to 15 at around 7a local, and had a great
run there, working 100 stations in about 90 minutes starting at 730a.
Really nice to have 10 open too, so had to keep deciding where to be for the
best QSO rate. Used to be so easy - 20 was it during the daytime - but not
now. And it figures to get even better.

Worked some nice DX - 3B8 and 3B9 on 3 bands, American Samoa, Guam, Norfolk
Island, Benin, Namibia, Reunion. Saw Tom, K3WT doing really well, and Rusty
too in the time he was active, according to the Contest Online scoreboard.

Looking forward to the ARRL 10M Contest in two weeks when all the TVARCers
will be able to work each other on both CW and SSB.

73, Pete, K2PS
