Hi,

N3FJP Software’s “WXWarn” app is now available as a web-based application (i.e. runs in your browser — Firefox, Chrome, etc.)! It's a handy application to stay abreast of weather warnings (hurricane, tornado, flood, etc.) as well as other types of warnings. In addition, it’s a great tool for amateur radio operators interested in emergency communications. WXWarn gets its information from the National Weather Service’s (NWS) real time weather data feed. It’s configurable so that you can tailor which types of warnings you’d like to monitor and over what geographical areas.

WXWarn’s earlier incantations were restricted to running only on Microsoft’s Windows operating system. However, WXWarn 2.x has been totally re-written by its authors/developers (Scott, Kimberly and Chris) to run as a web-based application, which is not tied to any one particular operating system. This means WXWarn can now run on other operating systems (including Apple’s Mac OS and iOS/iPadOS). Since I switched to only using Apple’s operating systems, I’ve not been able to run the earlier versions of WXWarn. Prior to this switch, I ran WXWarn 1.x on Windows-based computers and really liked it. So, for me, it’s fantastic news that WXWarn 2.x is now available as a browser-based application. I’ve already got it setup, configured and running on my Apple computer running Mac OS.
