[TVARC] FW: Radio Rodeo school flyer

I working up the hardware to work the FM satellites and have been able to receive a couple satellite passes but I’ll need at least one partner to do some experimentation and practice to give this a try. Best to use 2 radios. Might be able to work the UHF up VHF down satellites with one full duplex radio, but that is only 2 of the 5 active FM satellites. We’ll need one person to aim the antenna, another to work the radios. I have a headphone splitter and 2 sets of headphones. You have to tune TX and RX in opposite directions to account for doppler shift as the satellite approaches / recedes. From what I’ve heard listening so far the satellites can be busy and the passes go quick.

If anyone interested in giving it a try I’m available most mornings (before it gets hot) down in the Fenney area. Let me know and I’ll see what time we’ll have a couple satellite passes for a given day.

TVARC members,
You may recall that Doug volunteered to contact schools, scouts, etc. about Radio Rodeo.
Per Doug’s email below, any satellite enthusiasts feel like accommodating these students in some way?

Hi George,

My contact at the Villages says their class is studying space travel and would have a particular interest in satellite communication. I feel like someone at the meeting said they could bring their satellite rig. Could we arrange it? If so, I will let the Villages know and see if I can confirm their interest.
