In case you did not get this email from Mickey, the $35 fee for upgrading, renewing, or applying for a vanity call sign goes into effect April 19th.

Subject: FCC Fee Date - April 19!

This afternoon the FCC released a Public Notice in which the date for Amateur (and other related wireless) application fees is set for April 19.

If you're considering upgrading, are within 90 days of your license expiring, or applying for a vanity call, you have until April 19 to get it in the hands of the FCC without a fee. After that, a $35 fee will apply.

More details will be announced as they become available. Right now, the intent is to collect the fee within the ULS payment system.

We knew this would happen - we'll have had 15 months since this was announced, so it should not be a surprise.
