Hi Members of TVARC’s MailList (especially those interested in contesting),

Below is my (K4QR) “brag” regarding my results from participating in the 2022 ARRL International DX (Phone) contest (Contest ID: “ARRL-DX-SSB”). This is an annual contest sponsored by the ARRL. This year’s was held this past weekend (starting on Saturday, March 5, at 0000 UTC and ending on Sunday, March 6, at 2359 UTC). For W (USA) and VE (Canada) stations the contest’s goal is to work as many different DX stations as possible and accumulate as many different DXCC entities (countries) as possible.

My total claimed score was 8,772 points. My total number of QSOs was 68. My total number of multipliers was 43. So, my score calculation was as follows:

Score = (#QSOs x 3 points/qso) x #Multipliers
          = (68 x 3) x 43
          = 204 x 43
          = 8,772

My total operating time (in-the-chair) was 8 hours 19 minutes. On Saturday (March 5), I only operated 1 hour 42 minutes. I started on 20 meters around 0137 UTC; but conditions were so poor (getting only 2 QSOs in 20 minutes) that I quickly abandoned this band and went to 40 meters (getting 9 QSOs in about 1 hour).

On Sunday (March 6), I operated 6 hours 37 minutes. Luckily, the propagation gods/goddesses smiled on 10 meters, which was wide open to South and Central American stations for quite awhile. I worked on 10 meters from around 1720 UTC through 2119 UTC. I bagged 32 QSOs during this timeframe. When propagation on 10 meters waned, I moved to 15 meters, where the propagation magic was still going strong (again especially open to Central & South American stations until some European ones began appearing later in the evening). I worked on 15 meters from around 2135 UTC through 2357 UTC and bagged an additional 25 QSOs.

For more details regarding my contest brag, here's a copy of my results as submitted to “3830scores.com” (an unofficial compilation of contest scores):
