I enjoy this one as a way to kick off the new year. I decided to try the
mixed mode shuffling between RTTY and FT4. The predicted ramp up in
solar flux did not happen so there wasn't a lot of DX to be worked. Like
Pete, I used my pan adapter on RTTY to move to a spike and tune in the
station.
Working the roundup on WSJT-X FT4 took some getting used to. Because the
software does the work, I found that I would get an initial call from a
station followed by several replies from me with no "RR73" confirmation
from the station. If I moved on to the next station that called me, then
the previous station would acknowledge me, sometimes after I worked the
new station. I then had to scroll back in the answer window to see what
report and section I got so I could complete the digital log window. I
lost several contacts before I realized I could recover the info and
complete the log. All in all, a fun way to break the boredom of slow
periods in RTTY.
I ended up with 43 states plus Alaska and Hawaii. Missed VE4, VE9, VE1,
VO1, VO2 and VY1.
Here is my haul after 8.4 hours:
Band Mode QSOs Pts Sec DXC Pt/Q
7 FT4 32 32 9 2 1.0
7 RTTY 22 22 4 1 1.0
14 FT4 61 61 7 7 1.0
14 RTTY 54 54 17 6 1.0
21 FT4 13 13 2 2 1.0
21 RTTY 33 33 9 9 1.0
Total Both 215 215 48 27 1.0
Score : 16,125
