Sorry I am unable to comment on new construction Rick. We live in a 15 year old house in Sabal Chase and my noise level is quite low. This in spite of using a Flagpole 6-BTV as my main antenna. Verticals are inherently noisy. I also have a 12M bazooka laying on my roof (inv V) with which I’ve worked over 100 DXCC countries and 40 states. Most all of those FT8. So obviously, there’s nothing wrong with a wire on the roof.
Agree that battery powering your radio and killiing house breakers is a good way to start locating noise sources. Wall-warts and LED strip lights are notorious.
Good luck,

Are the new houses in The Villages really this noisy? I haven’t started trying to identify the source(s) of the noise.

I was thinking about laying a wire directly on the roof at the back of the house, in either an end fed or inverted V configuration.
