Tom,

Coming from NH, I can relate to WX conditions during the major contests.
(The worse was a heavy wet snowstorm in the middle of CQ WW SSB one
year.) I run a 6BTV vertical inside a PVC flagpole plus a 15m vertical
dipole held up by a fiberglass mast at the back of the house. The
neighbors don't mind and the postal drop is behind a tall hedge so no
vigilantes can squawk, hi.

I've thought about an inverted V for 80 with the apex hoisted up on my
flagpole. I would have to add coils since getting the distance would be
a problem. The 80m portion of my multiband vertical is a 3-foot stinger
mated to a big coil at the top of the antenna. The stinger sticks out of
the PVC cap but it's hard to see so I'm safe (so far). Anyway, it would
be interesting to see if it would work better than what I have now.

You're not far from me. I'm in Woodbury, about a mile from route 42.

73 de Ed
