I managed to negotiate with the XYL to let me spend as much time as
possible in one of the majors for contesting. Working into the wee hours
of the morning is no longer easy to do; however, getting old has the
advantage of not sleeping much so I was up before dawn to grab stuff in
the far East. After 25+ hours, I set a new PR for Qs from TV. Using an
amplifier shortens the time getting through or re-visiting pileups for a
multiplier.
I was amazed at the number of people who cannot copy CW. Several times I
would go to a "needed " spot only to find that the prefix got busted and
the call was a common European station. Factoring in conditions at the
spotter's QTH or Fat Finger problems still does not mitigate getting the
call right.
On to the ARRL CW DX contest where WE are the ones to be worked.
