[TVARC] Flagpole rope

The last time I bought a Halyard (flag pole rope) was several years ago at
the Marion Flee Market. I haven't been there since the Pandemic and I heard
that most of the venders are gone now.
But then, I don't fly the flag but only 6-10 times per year. The Halyard is
out there all the time though. This morning when I was hoisting the flag,
and then ceremoniously lowering it to half staff, I did notice the halyard
was dry and on the brittle side. It may be time for me to replace it. I'm
thinking of spraying it with a silicone based lubricating oil.

Rich,
I had the same problem until I bought some antenna rope many years ago at
Orlando hamfest. I have not replaced it now in at least 10 years.

Subject: [TVARC] Flagpole rope
I pulled my flag down do half mast this morning and noticed my rope has
separated from the inner cord. I'm getting 4-6 months out of my ropes and
6-8 months out of my flags. The flags from the store on 441 hold up better
than the ones from Amazon. But I'd like to find a longer lasting rope. It
seems to be getting picks in the outer sheath from the screws between pipe
sections. Any suggestions? I considered putting clear tape over the screws
but worried about it coming loose or discoloring with weather.
Thanks,
Rich
